Melvin Boyd Parker, 70, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 in a Norman hospital.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Rev. Doug Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Melvin was born April 12, 1945 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Boyd E. & Marie (Dixon) Parker. He attended Shawnee schools and Murray State College, and went on to retire from the United States Army.
Melvin enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. His hobbies included the history of rodeoing, horses, and the outdoors. As an American patriot, Melvin was especially proud of his military service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd & Marie Parker; uncle, Fern Parker, and brother, Leon Parker.
He is survived by his Daughter: Dema Hansmeyer and her husband, Todd of Norman; Grandchildren: Michael Gage Crook, Zachary Eugene, Graclyn Marie, and Eziekiel Todd Hansmeyer; Sister: Dema Nell Lee of Phoenix, AZ; Nephew: Curtis & Alicia Parker and their son Aiden of Chico, CA; and many other nephews, nieces and other relatives; and Special friends, who were like brothers, Colen Howell and Donald Pittman.
