Elmer Floyd Bond was ushered by the Heavenly Angels to see his Jesus on May 26, 2015.
Elmer was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on April 8, 1927.
His neighbor friend Otis Roy helped find his first job, stocking can foods for a grocery store when he was 14 years old. When he was 17 he joined the US Navy, and was a World War II veteran, stationed in the Philippines on the largest dry dock ship. He did the painting (lettering) on each ship that came there. Once he returned he worked at a theater for awhile, then at Shawnee Motor & Supply. While working there he met the love of his life, Dayanna and they married on March 21, 1963.
When Elmer was 40 years old, he became a mail carrier, and did so for the next twenty-five years, and enjoyed retirement at 65.
His favorite day was Sunday. He loved his home church, Liberty Baptist Church, and was one of the main ushers to help take up the offering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul Bond and Mary Frances (Aday) Bond; his brother, George Washington Bond; his sister, Ardoth Bond Reding Mashburn, as well as his in-laws, William Taylor & Mary Alene (Day) Fail.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Dayanna Fail Bond; his son, whom he adored Evan Floyd Bond, and his wife Hazel; daughter, Terri Bond; special God given daughter, Kathy Walpole Pelton, and her husband Tom; two grandchildren, Kevan and Valerie; three great-grandchildren Trenton, Braden & Lyla; and three nieces: Sharon, Deloris, and Peggy.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Liberty Baptist Church with pastor Phil Thompson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
