Hazel Shattuck Earnhardt

Hazel Shattuck Earnhardt, 89, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Bristow, OK, with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Bristow Cemetery. Hazel was born June 6, 1926 outside of Slick, Oklahoma to James Franklin and Anna Faye Mattox Shattuck, moving with the family to Bristow at a early age. Attending school in Bristow, she graduated from Bristow High School in 1944. After high school she completed her education at Draughn Business School. She married Wayne Erskine Earnhardt in March 1952. Together they raised their family, attended First Baptist Church, and served the community of Bristow. She served as a legal assistant at Loeffler & Allen, Attorneys at Law and retired with completing her career with Tim Johnson, Attorney at Law. With Wayne they started New Hope Villa school for mentally handicapped. . Hazel served on the Bristow Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and the Montford and Allie B Jones Foundation. She was very talented and enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters (including creating Linda's wedding dress), quilting, knitting, painting, ceramics, baking delicious pecan tassies, and playing a strategic game of 42 at the family reunions. The family moved to Shawnee in 1998 to be closer to their only grandchild, Heath. She served as a Volunteer at Unity Health Center and was a member of University Baptist Church. While residing these last few years at Rose Manor, Hazel was known for willingly sharing a smile with all and greatly loved by the entire team. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (November 2004), daughter, Dana Kathleen (June 2010), brother, Charles Shattuck (October 2012), and her parents. Those cherishing her memories include daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gale Earnhardt Brown and Paul Edward Brown, and grandson, Heath Garrett Brown. In addition siblings include Marie Setser (Tulsa), Sylvia and Ed Taylor (Tulsa), Bill and Majel Shattuck (Bristow) and Don Shattuck (Bristow). Wayne's siblings include Oscar Ewing Earnhardt, Jr. (Long Beach, CA), Jean and Bill Stark (Houston, TX), Maxine Earnhardt (Bristow, OK), Janet and Bill Fuller (Fruita, CO). In addition she will be remembered as a wonderful aunt and friend by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Heartland Hospice, 2802 North Kickapoo, Shawnee 74804 who provided wonderful, compassionate, loving care to Hazel and support for the family.
