Margaret was called to her Heavenly Home June 14, 2015. She was born August 6, 1927, to Elizabeth (Cobb) Arnold and John P. Arnold. Margaret was a lifetime resident of Shawnee and graduated in 1945 from Shawnee High School. After graduation, she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years. Margaret met the love of her life on a blind date and 30 days later, on April 3, 1947, she married Charles H. Brown, the original "Charlie Brown". They were married 63 years until Charlie's death in 2010. Margaret was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was once active in the women's ministry & bereavement ministry. She also taught children's Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at Mission Hill Memorial Hospital, Camp Fire Girls, Falls Creek and Slippery Falls Boy Scout Ranch. Margaret loved spending time with family and friends. She loved cooking and entertaining. If anyone mentioned a party, she was the first one to volunteer to host it in their home. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David Wayne Brown, brother, John P. Arnold Jr, & sister, Mary Elizabeth Merchant. Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan & Scott Britt, Shawnee, grandsons Paul Brown, Shawnee & Bryce & Katie Britt, Moore & great grandson, Gage Polete. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jane Fullerton, Norman, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Blackmon, Holdenville and many special nieces and nephews that she loved so much. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Margaret’s memory to Mission Shawnee, P.O. Box 1223, Shawnee, OK 74802. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. to visit with family and friends.
