Billie M. Levisay, 86, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in a local nursing home.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 in Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Dove Cemetery, 348450 E. 980 Rd., Sparks, OK 74869.
Billie was born January 22, 1929 in Sparks, Oklahoma to Holly M. & Kathryn A. (McCleary) Graham. She graduated from Sparks High School in 1946. In 1948 she married Walter F. Levisay. He preceded her in death.
Billie lived a God-fearing life. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
She was the first woman mail carrier in Shawnee and the third in Oklahoma. She was the first woman to retire as carrier in Oklahoma, after carrying a route for 25 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for over 40 years. As a young woman she always led the ladies Sunday School classes, and made lifelong friends. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son: Dana, of Shawnee; granddaughter: Shelley Levisay of Shawnee; sister: Nadine Manning of Yukon; and several Nieces & Nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rose Manor, and the Physician’s Choice Hospice for their wonderful care of Billie.
