Robert C. (Bob) Bivins, 82, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 in Shawnee.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 in the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Robert Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.
He was born April 2, 1933 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Robert Lee (Whitey) and Florence Mary Bivins. He had lived in the Tecumseh and Shawnee area all of his life and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1951.
Bob served our country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1956. Serving about 18 months in Korea before being honorably discharged.
He married his wife Ann on March 30, 1962 and they enjoyed 53 years 3 months and 11 days together. They were members of the Central Church of Christ, 10th and Bell.
He attended Oklahoma Baptist University after returning home from service. He worked in the lab at Shawnee Milling Company, Unit Parts in Oklahoma City and Sylvania in Shawnee. After Sylvania closed their plant, Bob with his wife Ann opened Bivins’ Office and Bank Supply in 1970 which they ran together for the next 25 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joyce Hale and a brother Richard C. Bivins.
Survivors include his wife Ann, son Stephen of Dallas, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Brian Heldenbrand of Midwest City, 4 grandchildren; Logan and Hollie Heldenbrand, Bryce and Mason Bivins and their mother Annisa Palmer of Konawa, Sister-in-law Frances Knight of Stratford, brother-in-law and his wife Bernard and June Sharp of Shawnee, and a son Robert Lee Bivins and several loving nieces and nephews.
