James "Jim" Earl Taron

August 7, 1933 — July 9, 2015

James Taron (81) of Shawnee, died peacefully at home July 9, 2015, after complications of pneumonia. Born August 7, 1933 to Pierre Francis Taron, Sr., and Lelia (Kirkman) Taron. Jim attended St. Benedict school. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force in the summer or 1953, served 4 years, was discharged, and resided in California for several years before returning to Shawnee. While in California he was employed as an aeronautical engineer and performed extensive work during the formative years of the space program. After returning to Shawnee, he worked in the construction business with his father for several years. He was a jack of all trades, and his final occupation was cross country truck driver before retiring in 2001. He is survived by his wife Chris of 44 years, 3 children: Jeanie and her husband Craig Corrado of Santa Clarita, CA, Janet of Sun Valley, CA and James also of Sun Valley, CA; 3 grandchildren: Sean Michael Taron, Catherine Cecelia Taron and Chad Corrado, all of Santa Clarita, CA.; 3 brothers: Dr. Joe Taron; Leonard Taron and his wife Bevyln; Tim Taron and his wife Carolyn, all of Shawnee; 4 sisters: Anna Lee Johnson of Venice, Florida, Mary Teresa Williamson and her husband Richard of Tucson, Arizona, Joan Elizabeth Jackson and her husband Larry of Rush Springs, Oklahoma and Kathryn Mullin and her husband Randy of Denver City, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Louise O'Daniel and Virginia Northcutt; 3 brothers: Bernard, Pierre, Jr and Robert; and 1 son: Jeffrey Michael. There will be a wake service Thursday evening, July 16 at 7:00 pm at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. The funeral service will be on Friday at 10:00 A.M., also at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwarz officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Jim's memory to St. Benedict's Catholic Church Building Fund, Endowment Fund, ACTS Ministry or Breakfast Ministry.
