Teressa "Terri" Jean Smith Madden

Teressa (Terri) Jean Smith Madden was born September 15, 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Charles R. and Betty Jean (Tait Mason) Smith. She passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at her home in Bristow, Oklahoma at the age of 61. She was born into a home of service to the Lord. Her parents, were Pastors and Evangelists all of their married life. Terri accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour at an early age and continued to serve Him with a happy heart the rest of her life. She and her husband John have served many with singing and have a true "Gift of Helps" to others. They worship at the Sapulpa Road Church of God in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, a church which her Daddy founded. Her early elementary years was in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Her family then moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma to Pastor the Church of God on McKinley Street, which later became Gordon Cooper Church of God. Terri was a 1971 graduate of Shawnee High School. She studied for Nursing Home Administration at Oklahoma University, with additional courses in accounting and health care. Terri served in several capacities at the Golden Rule Home, which her parents founded in 1964. Terri and John Madden was married October 6, 1973 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She is survived by her husband, John Madden, Bristow; son Johnny Madden and wife Shana, Bristow; daughter Melanie Goddard and husband David, Claremore; son Joe Madden, Bristow; Terri is also survived by two girls they took into their home to raise, Traci Kundysek and husband Clint, and son Gage" Catoosa; Robin Green Shriner, and children Ashley, Ricky and Kyle, Bristow. Two sisters, Anna Jantz and husband Charles, Shawnee; Betty Nicholson, Shawnee. Two brothers, David Smith, Oklahoma City; Chuck Smith and wife Kathy, Shawnee; and five grandchildren: Madison Euliss, Skyelar Madden, Ca'Dee Madden, Lauren Goddard, and Austin Denissen; and by a host of additional relatives and friends. Terri married into a wonderful family and dearly loved her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Patsy Madden. Terri became a daughter to them and a sister to John's siblings and was loved by his extended family. Terri and John traveled many miles to campmeetings and services in other towns and states. They also had a unique service of decorating over 100 graves, many of which had no one else to bring flowers and remember them on Memorial Day weekend. This they have taught their grandchildren to love also. When asked her favorite quote, she replied "I will love the Lord my God with all of my heart, soul and spirit." This she did until her earthly life ended, then gained her reward in Heaven. The Celebration of Life Service is Monday, August 31, at 2:00pm, Victory Chapel Church of God, 13513 Highway 177, Shawnee with Bro. James Bell and Bro. Curtis Williams, Sapulpa, officiating. Visitation is Sunday, August 30, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Walker Funeral Home, 201 East 45th Street, Shawnee. Burial is at Johnson Cemetery, Shawnee.
