Jimmie Lou (Robertson) Bly, 87, of Shawnee,
Died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Living Love Christian Center, 1000 N. Kennedy, Shawnee with Pastor Mark Guinn officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Jimmie was born August 27, 1928 to A.C. Robertson & Stella (Burleson) Robertson, and graduated with the Class of 1945 from Dale High School. She married Rhoper A. Bly, Jr. December 24, 1945.
Mrs. Bly has been a dedicated volunteer for the Dale Cemetery for
nearly 40 years. She kept records of burials, sales, and was the source of information for
people seeking loved ones buried at Dale. She marked graves and contacted funeral homes and
vault companies.
She was a long time member of Living Love Christian Center, and prior to that over 30 years at
Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Shawnee.
She won countless blue ribbons and grand champions on her canned goods and her porcelain
dolls at the Pottawatomie County Fair and many honorable mentions at the State Fair of
Oklahoma.
She was a seamstress of renown. She was adept from making wedding gowns to entire
wardrobes. She made her prize winning doll’s clothes; many in exotic replicas of babies layettes
and wedding dresses.
Her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents A.C. and Stella Robertson, her sisters: Ethel Loman, Ederal
Neely, Blanch Keller, Jean Fay Biddle, and her brothers: Thurman Robertson and Lynn
Robertson.
Survivors: Her husband of nearly 70 years, Rhoper Austin Bly Jr. Daughters: Rita Aragon of
Edmond, Connie Jenkins and husband Fred of Shawnee. Three grandchildren: Christa Ketcher of
Shawnee, Dana Cortez of Edmond, and Maggie Smith of Dale. Six great grandchildren: Shelby
Cortez, Austin Ketcher, William, Gregory, and Lucas Smith. One sister, Gladys Kinnamon of
Dale. A host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and hundreds of close friends.
