Milton LeRoy Hunt

July 14, 1937 — November 8, 2015

Milton LeRoy Hunt passed from this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Stratford, OK, on July 14, 1937 to M.L. and Priscilla Hunt, he was the first of five children. He was preceded in death by his father, M.L. Hunt, his mother, Amy Priscilla (Benge) Hunt, his sister, Yvonne (Hunt) Wood, and two brothers, Robert Allen Hunt and Frankie Benge Hunt. Milton was proud of his service in the United States Air Force. His career of more than twenty years saw assignments in the United Kingdom, Kansas, Puerto Rico, Texas, Vietnam, and the Philippines. His assignment in Vietnam during the war resulted in Milton being awarded the Bronze Star medal for heroism. After having enlisted in the Air Force for the second of many enlistments, Milton married Margie Anneta (Wilkins) Hunt on June 26, 1960, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, Sulphur, OK. Taking their marriage vows seriously, their marriage continued for more than fifty-five wonderful years. After a very short honeymoon consisting of a trip to Frontier City and Tonkawa, Oklahoma, they made their way to Schilling Air Force Base, Salina, Kansas, to make their first home. Cold nights and not much ado in Kansas produced two children, Mary Lisa (Hunt) Littrell and Steven Lee Hunt. After his retirement from the Air Force, Milton joined the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier/clerk in the Sulphur and Hennepin areas. As was his habit, Milton took pride in doing his job right the first time, including making certain the mail was delivered in a timely manner regardless of the obstacles before him. Through his position as carrier/clerk, Milton made new friends in Sulphur and renewed old friendships from his Sulphur High School days. When greeting old friends and new, Milton was quick to offer a broad smile and a funny story. He lived a joyful, abundantly blessed life. Milton is survived by his wife, Anneta, of the home. Children gave Milton a heart bursting with joy. He is survived by two children, Lisa (Hunt) Littrell and David of Edmond, and Steven Hunt and Cindy of Broken Arrow; two grandchildren, Spencer Hunt and Miciah of Ada and Baylee (Hunt) Cottrell and Chance of Davis, and five great-grandchildren. Never too old to play or entertain his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Milton was quick to read a book or give a ride on his riding lawn mower to one or more of his grandchildren. Blessed with a large family, Milton is survived by one sister, Jane (Hunt) Melton of Collinsville; his father-in-law, Alfred V. Wilkins of Meeker, two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Kelly of Shawnee and Linda Farrand of Shawnee, one brother-in-law, Harold Wood of Tuttle, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday at Walker Funeral Service. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
