Doris Jean Leone, age 86, passed away on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1929, to John and Linda Vegher Paris in Coalgate, Oklahoma.
Doris married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Leone, on April 11, 1948, in Bonham, Texas.
Doris was a devoted Catholic who served as past president of the St. Benedict Alter Society and also served on the Parish Council.
Doris and her family moved to Shawnee in 1957. After raising her family, she and Kenneth enjoyed time camping, trips, family gatherings, and especially the birthdays, ballgames, dance recitals, and other family events. She rarely missed any activity involving her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved her children and grandchildren and was so proud of all of them. She was the matriarch of an extremely large, loving, close-knit, happy family. She was funny, loving, and caring. She loved to talk and visit with friends and family. She was a very special person with a big heart and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Kenneth Leone, of the home. Children: Sharon Leone, John and Pam Leone, Ken and Tina Leone, Shawnee, and Willie and Barbara Justice of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Grandchildren: Jamie and Tracy Leone, Josh Leone, Joey and Summer Leone, James and Shelli Reding, Traci Smith and Herb Denler, Brandi Leone and Josh Chastain, Carter and Kathy Justice, Michelle Justice, Dax and Amber Leone, Brady and Angie Ayala, and Chad and Jessica Leone, and Alex Simpson. Sister, Edith McCauley, Hemphill, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Bette Leone, Midwest City; Doris Rufenacht and the late Kirk Rufenacht; George and Mary Noll, Ransom, Kansas. She was abundantly blessed with an additional 25 great-grandkids and five great-great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Joe and Lizzy Leone; her brother, Donald Paris; sister-in-law, Dorothy Leone; brother-in-law, Curtis McCauley; nephew, Jimmy McCauley; nephews, Stephen and Mikele Leone and grandson Jared Denler; and special friend, Julie Burton.
Services will include a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 23, and Burial Mass at 10 a.m., Nov. 24, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Cemetery or St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.
