Linda was born on Friday, November 28, 1947 to her parents Joel and Clarrissia Catlett. God called her home Monday November 23, 2015, five days before her birthday. Linda was a beautiful, loving, caring person not only to her family but to all who knew and needed her.
At four years old, she told her mother that when she was grown, she would be a nurse, get married and her mother would make her wedding dress. This all happened. Linda grew up in the First Christian Church. She took an active part in all the youth activities and taught the 4-year-old Sunday school in her senior year of high school. She also participated as a Candy Striper and Camp Fire Girl. In 1966 she started at OBU’s School of Nursing. In July 1969, she married the love of her life, Thomas Roberts. That’s when her mother made her wedding gown, just as predicted. She graduated from OBU in 1970.
She worked as a nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital and retired when her husband Tom died in 2001. After she retired, she started her own business as a dealer for Breyer model horses. She was busier after she quit working in her second career as an entrepreneur.
She fought cancer for four years, but it returned after two remissions. She was a strong person, with a beautiful heart and smile to match. Linda will be terribly missed by all who loved her.
Linda is survived by daughters Lisa, husband Brian Tippin and Becky, husband David Medina, grandchildren Elizabeth Medina and Cameron Tippin, her parents Joel and Clarrissia Catlett, brother Tommy married to Tammy Catlett and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel in Shawnee. Pastor Ben Williams will be officiating and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
