Georgia Belle Austin, former longtime Pottawatomie County Clerk, 88, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating.
Georgia Belle was born October 7, 1927 to George & Mary (Morgan) Austin. At the age of 9 she contracted scarlet fever and was in Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City for 2 years. Her illness never held her back. Following high school, she went to Neff’s Business School. She later ran for office of Pottawatomie County Clerk, which she won, and held office for many years, retiring in 1985.
She was interested in working and playing on her computer, e-mailing many friends and relatives. Being confined to her home, Facebook was her lifeline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Mary Austin, brothers, James, Howard, Bob and Dick, as well as two sisters-in-law, Sandra and Carolyn, and a nephew Bobby, Jr.
Left to remember Georgia Belle are her sister, Janet, nieces Deborah, Rhonda & husband Daniel, Mary Lynn & husband Greg, Vicky & husband Bill; nephew Steven & wife Claudia, great nephew James and great niece, Debrah, plus many other beloved relatives and friends.
