Melba Carnes Bryan

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Terry Newell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Melba Carnes Bryan was born June 12, 1927 in Lamar, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Callie Bridges. She graduated from high school in Lamar. On August 14, 1946 she married Melvon Carnes. He preceded her in death in 1995 and she later married Leon Bryan on October 12, 1998. She worked most of her life as a homemaker. She was an active member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, son: Ron Carnes, 3 brothers: Edward Bridges, Bob Bridges, Luther “Jimmy” Stowe, and 1 sister: Lorene Hollingshead. Survived by: 2 Children: Gary Carnes and wife Joanne of Okmulgee, OK, Deborah Smith and husband Scott of Owasso, OK, 9 Grandchildren: Shane Carnes, Kevin Carnes and wife Ashley, Randall Carnes, Brian Carnes, Sharon Carnes Cooke and husband Matt, Christopher Smith, Zachary Smith and wife Ashley, Kyle Smith, Sheridan Smith, 6 Great-Grandchildren: Lexi Carnes, Keaton Carnes, Brinley Smith, Emersyn Smith, Kal Cooke, Cydaria Cooke, Many dearly loved nieces and nephews, family and friends.
