Marie Nell McCray

Marie Nell McCray, 88, of Shawnee, died Monday, December 21, 2015 in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery. Marie was born December 9, 1927 in Pottawatomie County to Carl & Laura Frazee. She attended school until the 8th grade. Marie worked at the Log House many years ago, and was a homemaker for the rest of her life. On December 17, 1945 she married Grady McCray. Marie enjoyed being a wife and mother, she enjoyed listening to gospel music and listening and watching ministers on TV. She was also an animal lover, and took in many cats, dogs, etc., and in years past she raised rabbits and finches. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grady, son Kenneth Wayne, and a daughter Joy Gail Freeman. She is survived by her son: Melvin McCray; a daughter-in-law: Patricia McCray; grandchildren: Shantel McCray, Michael McCray, Kevin, Jesse Joe, and Rowdy Freeman; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
