Lester "Les" Leroy Davis

Lester “Les” Leroy Davis, former longtime Yukon resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Shawnee, Oklahoma on December 24, 2015, surrounded by many family and friends at the age 73. He was born to Walter and Lydia Davis on May 16, 1942 in Globe, Arizona. He graduated from Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City in 1960 and attended OSU in Oklahoma City. He married Jan Hames on June 29, 1963. He was a Sergeant 5 in the United States Army. Lester was an Electrical Engineer in the computer industry for 50+ years holding numerous management positions. Retiring in 2012, he worked at the Shawnee YMCA and met many new friends in the community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and volunteered many hours for the local home owner associations, coached Little League basketball and football teams and was on the City of Yukon Park Board. He was a Christian. He loved to golf, fish, bowling, yard work, restoring old cars, reading, watching movies, hosting wine-tasting parties and BBQ grilling. His family remember him as a dedicated family-man who was always proud of his children and grand-children. He spent many hours watching his grandchildren play organized sports. He would always go out of his way to help others. He never met a stranger. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Walker Funeral Service Chapel in Shawnee, with his brother-in-law Gerry Rhodes officiating. He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Dr. Stephen Banks, Sister: Betty McClure, brother-in-law: Ralph McClure and brother-in-law: Bob Jones.
