Barbara Jean (Akins) Drew

Barbara Jean Akins Drew Barbara Jean Akins Drew, 79, of Shawnee went home to be with her Lord on January 8, 2016. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, Oklahoma Barbara was born on May 23, 1936 to Montague and Ollie Mae (Brown) Akins, in Meeker. She graduated from Meeker High School in the spring of 1955, and she moved to Shawnee shortly thereafter. Barbara worked at S.H. Kress, Singer Sewing Machines, Trico Bowl and retired as a set up machinist at Central Plastics. Her interests included traveling, spending time on Lake Eufaula and Tenkiller with her nieces, nephews, and close friends. She particularly enjoyed watching her Thunder basketball games. Barbara was an avid bowler, and participated in several leagues. She also had an incredible ability to craft beautiful quilts. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister Mary Sue. Those left to cherish her memory include a Sister: Mona Ray, and her husband John. Their daughter Rowan Moore: A lifelong friend Mary Jane Bardwell; Her niece: Tracey Crow and her husband Charles and their children, nephew Monte Moore and his wife Shawna; their children, nephew Kevin Moore and wife Deanna, their children nephew Karl Moore and his children. Also, a special Aunt Tressie Brown of Meeker and many cousins.
