Evan Floyd Bond

December 30, 1952 — February 29, 2016

Evan Bond walked through the gates of Heaven on February 29th, 2016. We will celebrate the life of this faithful servant of God, loving husband, amazing father, and devoted grandfather on March 3, 2016, at Temple Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M., with his close friend and pastor, Scott Hendry, leading the service. Evan was born in Shawnee on December 30, 1952, to Elmer and Betty Bond. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1971, and two years later, married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Chandler. They gave birth to two beautiful children, Kevan Todd and Valerie Nicole. He worked for Sears as a repair tech for 39 years. Upon retiring, Evan devoted most of his time and energy to his church family at Grace Church, volunteering many happy hours to Grace House, a clothing and food ministry through Grace Church. He was always available to help anyone with his many talents, to spend numerous nights enjoying the activities of his five grandchildren, and to make all those he knew laugh with his quick wit and sharp humor. Evan is survived by his adored wife, Hazel Bond of Shawnee; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevan and Brandy Bond of Shawnee, and their children, Nathaniel and Kate; his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Kyle Ueltzen of Shawnee, and their children, Trenton, Braden, and Lyla; his sister Terri Bond of Nashville, TN, and her children, Amelia and Evelyn; his step-mother, Dayanna Bond of Shawnee; his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Cherry Chandler of Quitman, TX; his sister-in-law, Earnestine Elliot of Shawnee; his sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Jacques Cayer of Huntington,CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evan is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Bond; mother, Betty Bond; grandparents, Paul and Mary Bond, mother and father-in-law, Earnest and Wanda Chandler; and fishing companion and brother-in-law, Don Elliot. We are thankful for the time we have been given with a phenomenal man who taught us all, through example, how to live in Christ. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to Grace House, PO Box 126, Shawnee, OK 74802.
