Rose Marie Vinson Austin, 88, of Shawnee, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 in a local hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kurt Beauford officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday, March 8 from 6-7:30 p.m. to visit with friends and family. Rose was born September 11, 1927 in Maud, Oklahoma to Arno Max & Elma (Houtz) Tischer. She attended Harjo Schools. She was married to Russel H. Austin, and later to Walter Mack Vinson. Rose was a homemaker and lived in Shawnee, as well as Edmond for several years. Her children and grandchildren were the delight of her life. She was PTA President and homeroom mother at Franklin Elementary, an active member & chairwoman of the Democratic Party serving as hospitality in the mid 60’s, and she loved to bowl, and was on a bowling league. She was a member of the Oklahoma Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arno & Elma (Houtz) Tischer, husbands Russel Austin and Mack Vinson, a sister Louise McGlasson, Stepson & wife, Orville & Bettie Austin, stepson-in-law, Bill James. She is survived by: 3 Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Terry & Jeanne Austin, Stanley & Rhonda Austin, all of Shawnee, and Bradley & Dallas Vinson of Guthrie; 1 Daughter & Son-in-Law: Cynthia & Jim Allen of Duncan; Stepchildren & their spouses: Doyle & Willadean Austin, JoEllen Watson Jones, Janell James, all of Shawnee; Danny & Thyra Austin of McLoud; a sister Betty Adams of Midland, TX; a brother Bill Tischer of Gardenville, TX; Grandchildren: Rodney Ward, Shannon Vick, Kim Balan, Brett Austin, Terry Austin, Jr., Elizabeth Jo Vinson; Great-Grandchildren: Paige (Austin) Wood, Parker Balan, Conner Balan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
