James Ed Rose, 91, formerly of Norman/Oklahoma City/Shawnee/Ardmore, went into the arms of the Lord on April 7, surrounded by his loving family and the prayers and love of countless friends. Ed was born Dec 26, 1924, in Lexington, Oklahoma to Carl W. Rose and Alpha Martha (Stovall) Rose. He graduated from Norman High in May 1943 and Oklahoma University with a degree in Engineering Physics in June 1950, interrupted by a stint in the Army during World War II.
Ed started working after graduation at Schlumberger in Perry, Oklahoma, beginning over 65 years of employment in the petroleum logging business in Ardmore, Cushing, Shawnee, and Oklahoma City. He enjoyed his family and coworkers, playing golf and watching football.
Ed has been sustained thru life by his faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, his wives, Vera Beth and Jimy Earlene. He is survived by his children, Gary and Sheila Rose, Roger and Linda Rose, Diane and Ken Harmon, Leesa and Gerald Adams, and step-daughters, Glena and Ronnie Yates, Linda Kay and Darryl Tiller, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Shawnee on Tuesday, April 12 at 2 PM. The family has designated Mercy Hospice as appropriate for memorials.
