Dorothy Autrey Hopkins, 92, of Shawnee, OK, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee with Doyle Loveland officiating. Memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to Rock Creek Baptist Church.
Dorothy was born January 24, 1924 in Hamilton, Arkansas to Walter & Lola Autrey. She attended Shawnee High School, graduating with honors. She then attended and graduated from the Oklahoma School of Banking, and enjoyed selling real estate for Lucky U Realty. She was married to Bill Hopkins. A devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, Dorothy loved and was proud of her family and their accomplishments, particularly her grandson, Timothy.
She served as past president of the Business & Professional Women’s Club, (BPW). While a member of the BPW, she was selected as Woman of the Year. For many years she was active in A.A.R.P. and served in several positions including president of the organization. Dorothy organized monthly charitable donations, by AARP members and enjoyed arranging the monthly presentations for AARP meetings. She particularly enjoyed decorating the tables for AARP members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hopkins; her parents, Lola & Walter Autrey; brothers, W.F. Autrey & Burman Autrey; nephews, Bill Autrey, Ronnie Autrey and William Autrey; and niece, Melinda Shankle.
Survivors include: Son-in-Law & Daughter: Jim and Jerry Herron
Grandson: Tim and wife Jagruti Herron
Great-Grandchildren: Nathan, Brandt and Anika Herron
Sisters: Joyce Stanish and Juanita Cutmore
And many nieces and nephews
