Salome "Sally" Whiteshirt Matanane, 81, of McLoud, Oklahoma, returned to her Heavenly home on April 14, 2016. She is of the Arapaho Tribe, her Indian name is Saheihii. She went to Concho Indian Boarding school, graduated from El Reno High School, and went to Chilocco Indian Vo-Tech in Oklahoma. Salome enjoyed being around her family & friends, camping and fishing, she loved dancing, was a full time homemaker, and enjoyed the Casinos. She traveled the world with her husband while he was in the U.S. Air Force, living in South Dakota, Germany, California, Nebraska, Texas, Okinawa Japan, and Washington State. After retirement in 1972 they moved to McLoud, Oklahoma. Salome lived life to the fullest and will be remembered as a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother. Salome was born February 2, 1935 in Concho, Oklahoma to her parents Nelson Whiteshirt from Canton, Oklahoma & Mattie Monroe, from Ethete, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings - Virgil, Dorothy, Virgie, Monroe & Esther Lee. She is survived by her husband Juan C. Matanane, and children & their spouses, Jose (Beth), Rosa, Juan Jr. (Elaine), Francisco, Jessie (Carmen), Carlos (Amy), Johnny Lee (Louann), and 21 Grandchildren & 21 Great Grandchildren, and numerous friends and family. Wake Services will be 7 pm Tuesday 4/19/2016 at Kickapoo Friend's Center Church, in McLoud, Oklahoma, and Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday 4/20/16 at Kickapoo Friend's Center Church, in McLoud, Oklahoma with Pastor Brad Wood, Officiating. Burial Graveside Service Wednesday 4/20/16 in Concho, Oklahoma, at Concho Tribal Cemetery. Salome's children will be pallbearers, Jose, Juan Jr., Jessie, Francisco, Carlos, & Johnny Lee. Meal with Family will follow at Kickapoo Friend's Center Church, in McLoud, Oklahoma.
