Descygne Shubert

Former Shawnee Teacher, Descygne Shubert, 103, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Porter, Oklahoma. Services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery. Descygne was born September 22, 1912 in Tribbey, Oklahoma to John & Donna Forster. She was a graduate of Tribbey High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from OBU and her Master’s degree from OU. She was a teacher for 42 years in Shawnee. She was married to Bill Shubert. She was a member of the O.E.A., where she served as president, as well as the ORTA president, recipient of Teacher of the Year in Shawnee, a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shubert; sister, Mildred Clark; daughter, Donna Webb; and grandson, Chris Whittington. She is survived by her Granddaughter: Tracey Jones and husband Darrin Jones; Grandson: Rick Whittington and wife Tracy; Great-Grandchildren: Ryan Rike, Jennifer Milliger, Alicia Whittington, Jacob Nielsen, Jordon Whittington, Elisabeth Jones, and Chase Whittington; and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.
