Mary Margaret Kasterke, 70, of Shawnee, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 in Shawnee.
She was born December 11, 1945 to William and Juanita Saunders in Seminole.
Mary Margaret was raised in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1963. She attended East Central University and later graduated from the University of Oklahoma.
Mary Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Richard, on his birthday, May 29, 1965 (Richard’s greatest birthday gift). They were married almost 51 years.
Mary Margaret was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she retired in 2003 to be a full-time Grandmother, after 25 years of serving as a pre-school and children’s director. She loved all children and enjoyed teaching them about Jesus.
Mary Margaret always enjoyed her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was always ready to go to a ballgame or school activity.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Lester & Syble Kasterke, and Sister-in-Law, Ethel Black.
Mary Margaret is survived by Richard Kasterke, her husband of almost 51 years; her son Derrick Kasterke and his wife Tammy of Shawnee; daughter Dr. Allison Huebert and her husband Mike Huebert of Choctaw; grandchildren Tanner, Josh, and Kali Kasterke, and Seth, Will, Paul Richard and Maggie Huebert; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary & Betty Kasterke of Shawnee; brother-in-law Ronnie Black of Texas, and her beloved big dog, Cledus.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee with Dr. Todd Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1451 E. 45th Street, Shawnee, OK 74804.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the employees of Shawnee Care Center for their kindness and care, and family and friends for their prayers and support.
Mary Margaret's family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. to visit with friends and family.
