Dana Lea McDowell

Dana Lea McDowell, 63, of Shawnee, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her home. Dana was born in Hollis, OK to Blaine and Madelene Tucker on January 6, 1953. She married Kenneth Doyle McDowell on June 26, 1970. Dana was a public school teacher in Shawnee for 34 years and served her district and teachers as a representative, officer, as well as president of the Shawnee Association of Classroom Teachers. Dana is preceded in death by her parents of Hollis, OK and her 2 brothers and sister. Dana is survived by her husband Ken, her daughter Shana and husband Len Sellers of Meeker, OK, and her daughter Michelle and husband Benjamin Randle of Jenks, OK. Dana also leaves behind her three grandsons, Zephan, Aidan, and Cade, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, her family would prefer that you make a donation in her memory to any Shawnee area elementary school classroom. Viewing will be held at Walker Funeral Service during regular hours with family receiving visitors on Tuesday, July 19th from 5-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, also at Walker Funeral Service.
