FC "Mac" McMillin

FC “Mac” McMillin, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 7, 2016. He was born October 17, 1933 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Marcus Curtis and Laura Rae McMillin. On December 18, 1964, he married Rose Anna Navin of Shawnee at Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska. He spent the last 10 years in Edmond, Oklahoma and 30 years’ prior in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was a proud member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Shawnee, and attended mass regularly at St. John the Baptist in Edmond. He enlisted in the USAF in 1953 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1977. He served our country in the Korean War in the fifties and two tours of duty in the Viet Nam War in the sixties and seventies. During this time, he also attended Oklahoma A&M. After honorably serving in the military, he worked for American Electric Power as a Senior Analyst, retiring in 1994 after 17 years of service. In 1990, he joined the Shawnee Police Department as a Reserve Officer, where for the next 26 years, he served the community in a variety of ways. “Mac” gave tirelessly to many charitable causes, including the American Red Cross, VFW, Boy Scouts, Masons, and Prison Ministry (Kairos). He is survived by his son Curtis McMillin of Edmond, and his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Michael Ketcherside, also of Edmond; four grandsons Dylan, Colton, Joshua and Noah; and his nephew and wife Thomas and Kim Van Winkle of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and their daughter, Logan, also of Fayetteville. He is preceded in death by his wife Rose Anna McMillin; his parents Marcus Curtis and Laura Rae McMillin; his two sisters Geraldine “Gerri” Van Winkle of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Maxine “Mackey” Scrogham and niece Mickey Scrogham, both of Olathe, Kansas. A friends and family gathering will take place at Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee at 6:00pm, with a wake following at 7:00pm, on Thursday, August 11. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 12 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Shawnee. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross.
