Ila Ruth Sullivan

September 30, 1945 — August 28, 2016

Ila Ruth Sullivan was born September 30, 1945 to Leta and Theo Sullivan in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She then moved to California and settled in Castro Valley, California where she lived until her death, August 28, 2016. She worked for Kaiser Hospital for 28 years and retired there. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry Sullivan. She leaves nieces Sonja Sullivan Hall and Shelia Sullivan and their families. Also her immediate cousins Christene Reid of Dale, Leta Moore, Shawnee, Darrell Sullivan and Lenard Sullivan of Oklahoma City, Brooks and Jimmy Reese, Nashville, Arkansas, and Paulette Cox, California. Also a very close friend Lillian Georgantes, her son Steve and family. Her adopted sis and brother, Harold and Vicki Jones and Dana and Derek, whom she loved dearly and was loved by them. Ila was a fun loving, hard working person who enjoyed helping others, especially her Mother and Father, whom she did so much for. She helped many people where she lived. She always would ask if any had passed here, to please put her name on the card when flowers were sent. She loved being part of her cousin Stacey Cochrane’s wedding and Derek Jones wedding. Many times she would have herself wrapped in a box as a surprise Christmas present to her Mom and Dad. She was raised in the Dale Church of Christ where she loved the singing! She had many tapes of her Daddy leading singing and her cousins singing! She would sing along and laugh at herself and say “I didn’t inherit the Sullivan gene.” She was a special person that will be missed by so many.
