Shawnee resident, George Adrian Washington, 96, died Friday, September 23, 2016 in a local nursing home.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 in Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ray Belford officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery.
George Adrian Washington was born March 8, 1920 in Fallis, Oklahoma to George and Ola Mae Washington. He graduated from Montrose High School in Colorado in 1939. He served in the United States Army during W.W.II. He married Lula (Merrick) in 1949 in Waco, TX. They were married 65 years. He was a devoted member of the First Christian Church for 40 years, the I.O.O.F. for 60 years, the Rebekah’s and A.A.R.P. He was a caring man, very close to his beloved “Lulu Mae”, his brothers and sisters, and his dog “Buster”.
Preceded in death by his: Parents, Wife, Siblings: Jack Washington, Bill Washington, Myrtle Murphy, Ruby Pantlick, Lois Neighbors, and Clara Adams.
Survived by: his caregiver and adopted granddaughter: Tracy South and her son Bryce South of Shawnee.
