John Patrick Michael Inda, 72, of Shawnee passed away suddenly on October 12, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was surrounded by his closest family. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Barton) Inda for 46 years. He was born in Shawnee on March 2, 1944, the son of the late Louis and Theresa (Nickel) Inda.
John started his education at St. Benedict’s Catholic School and then went on to St. Gregory’s University and Oklahoma State University. He joined the military while attending OSU. After returning from two tours in Vietnam, he graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with an economics degree and then went to the University of Oklahoma for a masters of economics. John started his career working for the state under Governor Hall at the State Capitol. He moved on to work for Barton Valve, becoming President and helping to take them public. He then started two new companies, General Plastics and E-Z-1, where he worked diligently until his last day.
John was lovingly devoted to his family. He worshiped God, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, working, and eating good food. He was a long-standing member of the Grand National Quail Club.
In addition to his loving wife Phyllis of the home, John is survived by his son John Tyler of Shawnee and his daughter Turie Von Tungeln, son-in-law Cory, and granddaughter Stella of Chicago; his sister and brother-in-law Joanna and Jerry Rudolph of Trophy Club Texas; his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Charlotte Inda of Tecumseh; his sister-in-law Frieda Inda of Bradenton Florida, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn and Bill Brooks of Shawnee, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim Inda and his father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Dortha Barton. A

In honor of John’s wishes, a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 632 N Kickapoo Street, Shawnee OK 74801.
