Shawnee resident, James Batt, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in a local nursing home.Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Jeff Morris, step great-nephew officiating. Burial will follow in Seminole Nation and Veterans Memorial Cemetery. James was born November 10, 1940 in McLoud, OK, to Rip & Marie (Beatty) Batt. He graduated from McLoud High School. Jim served 3 tours in Vietnam, and retired after 20 years as a US Marine Gy Sgt. He was a glazer at Central Glass and retired as a production specialist at Exxon Mobile. He was married to LaRita (Gerry) Batt for 24 ½ wonderful years. It was nothing for Jim to say, “Let’s go” and he, Gerry and Sparky were on the road to wherever the coach took them. Jim was active in DAV, Together We Serve, and Pop-a-Smoke. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bob and Sonny, and his little buddy, Sparky. Survived by his wife: LaRita; Brother & Sister-in-Law: Joe & Pat Batt; Sister-in-Law: Betty Batt; 3 Children: Glenna Rose, Mike Batt, and B.J. Hensley; 3 Step-Children: LaRita Haffey, Terry Blackstone, and Brenda Stephenson; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
