Del was born on Sept 18, 1934 in Canton, OH to Delmar and Laura Mae Gheen. He did his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University and acquired his BA from Kent State University in 1956. Del received his Master of Medical Science from Ohio State University. After finishing his internship and residency in the Ohio area, he moved his family to Oklahoma where he served in the United States Public Health Service from 1964-1966. Upon completion of his service, he moved to Tulsa, OK where he began his journey in private Pediatric Practice. Del spent 19 years in practice in the Tulsa area before moving back to his home town of Canton to open a new office and be near his mother and siblings. He spent 15 years in Canton before returning to Oklahoma to be closer to his children and grandchildren. While in Edmond, OK he focused on pediatric neuro-development until retiring in 2010. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, teacher, servant, respected doctor and friend. He will be dearly missed, but we are blessed to have known and shared in this life with him. Del is survived by: His wife Sharon ; Sons Mark (April) Gheen, Doug (Abby) Gheen; Steve Taber; Jeff (Kim) Taber, and daughter Lenore (Karl) Brown. Grandchildren: Matthew and Jordan Gheen; Andie (Jerod) Vap; Morgan (David) Finley; Olivia, Josiah, Asa, and Samuel Brown; Griffin and Jake Taber; Great-grandchildren: Maddox Vap and baby boy Finlay (due in Dec.); Brother Jon (Barb) Gheen and Barb Noland and a host of amazing nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. Greeting him in Heaven were his parents Delmar L. Gheen Sr. and Laura Mae Gheen, brother -in-law Denny Noland, and great-grandson Blake Gheen.
