Billy Joe Mitchell

Billy Joe Mitchell,  85, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family will be at Walker Funeral Service on Wednesday from 6pm to 7:30 to receive friends.   Funeral Services will be 10:00am Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Billy Joe Mitchell was born February 18, 1931 in Atwood, Oklahoma (on his grandparents’ farm) to Jesse and Bertha (Baggs) Mitchell.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  On April 19, 1952 he married Mary Irene (Cotton).  He retired from the Oklahoma State Tax Commission.  He enjoyed O.U. Football, fishing, woodworking, raising cattle, and gardening.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother: Jesse Leroy Mitchell, and a son-in-law: James Eichling.     He is survived by 3 Children: Teresa Mitchell of OKC, Cheryl Eichling of Shawnee, and Daniel Mitchell and wife Karen of OKC; 6 Grandchildren: Brett Eichling of Jacktown, Katie Moses and husband Corbin of Austin, TX, Mary Elizabeth Mitchell of Denton, TX, Kimberly Moore and husband Travis of Yukon, Jessica Mitchell of Ft. Worth, TX, and Joshua Mitchell of OKC; In-law: James Cotton and wife Glenda of Edmond,  Alene Cotton of OKC, And several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
