Esther M. Godwin

Esther M. Godwin was born April 20, 1924 in Altus, OK. She joined her heavenly father on November 29, 2016 at 12:30 a.m. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at McLoud St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 5 at McLoud St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband LZ Godwin, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. On August 17, 1946, Esther married LZ Godwin and moved to McLoud, OK where they remained happily married for 36 years before LZ’s passing. Esther is survived by her sister Mary Willeford, her 10 children: Glenda Konrath, Gary Godwin, Mickey Godwin, Elizabeth Fout, Debra Godwin, Teresa Spinks, Jimmy Godwin, Charles Godwin, Connie Hudson and Joy Godwin. Esther was a devoted homemaker and mother to her children.  She also worked for Little Giant Pump Co. for 20 years and then went to work for Tinker Air Force Base and worked until she was 73 years old, before retiring. Esther was very active in her church, St. Vincent de Paul from 1946 to the time of her death.  She was a long time member of Veteran’s organizations, VFW 9969 from 1960 to current date and Veterans group 945 LeFemmes Auxiliary of the 40 & 8 Voitures organization in Shawnee, OK. Esther was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s ball games.  She was also a devoted OU fan and a Thunder basketball fan. Esther was loved and will be missed by her 10 children, 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
