Patricia "Patsy" Ann Price

June 30, 1934 — December 23, 2016

Patricia Ann (Patsy) Raymer Price, 82, passed away in Shawnee on December 23, 2016, with her loved ones at her side. Born in Shawnee on June 30, 1934, Patsy was the daughter of Lester and Leone Raymer. She graduated from Shawnee High School, where she was involved in many student activities, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Don Price. Patsy attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.  Patsy and Don married in 1953 and moved to Washington State, where Don served in the Air Force; it was there that their first child, Paula, was born. When they returned to Oklahoma, Don completed his degree in architecture at OU and joined a firm in Oklahoma City.   It was there that their son, Phillip Dane, was born;  in 1970, they returned to their hometown of Shawnee to raise their family. Patsy was a devoted mother and wife who encouraged her children to always look for the good in others and to appreciate the beauty of the world around them. She taught them to build their lives on the teachings of Christ and to respond to the needs of those less fortunate. As a member of First Baptist Church, she touched the lives of many, teaching 1st grade Sunday school for more than 25 years. Patsy was active in her community as a member of Junior League and PEO; she served as president of the Shakespeare Club and was named an honorary member of that group for her years of leadership and service.  She also became an active volunteer in the Shawnee elementary schools, working with the children’s reading program.  As her own children grew older, she worked as the buyer for Blaine’s Fashion Shop, founded in 1915 by Don’s aunt, Maybelle Blaine.  Patsy eventually became the owner of Blaine’s. With her friendly ways and her smart sense of style, Patsy developed the shop into a well-known source for fine women’s apparel, drawing customers from throughout the state.  After her retirement from the business in 1994, she enjoyed playing tennis, attending musical performances, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Leone Raymer; her brother, Cyrus Raymer; and her grandson Geoffrey Tanner.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald M. Price; son Dane Price and his wife, Jennifer, of Shawnee; daughter Paula Price Tanner and her husband, Bill, of Belton, Texas; grandchildren Margaret Price, Jessica Tanner, and Jason Tanner and his wife, Carol; and great grandchildren Noel and Theodora Tanner. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, at First Baptist Church of Shawnee, Dr. James Reynolds officiating, with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park.   In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago, IL 60601; www.alz.org) or to the children’s program at First Baptist Church of Shawnee (P.O. Box 1928, Shawnee, OK  74802-1928).  The family will be at the funeral home Monday evening, from 6 – 8 p.m. to visit with friends and family.  The casket will not be opened at the church.  Walker Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
