Mary Jane Jordan Richards

Mary Jane Jordan Richards was born April 25, 1944 to William H. and Amy Katherine (Goodwin) Jordan, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was reared in Calumet and El Reno, Oklahoma, and was graduated from Gulf Park High School, Gulf Port, Mississippi in 1962. While attending college, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, at the University of Oklahoma, as well as the Honorary History Society. She was chosen as a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. After her marriage to Gordon S. Richards, Jr. in February 1969, her life centered on her family and home. Mary Jane was a member and held offices in Chapter BB of PEO, Hawthorne Study Club, Shawnee Junior League and Alpha Mothers Club. One of her real joys was working with children in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Shawnee.Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved brother, Patrick G. Jordan. She is survived by her husband, as well as their two sons and their families: Jeffrey J. Richards and Samuel V. Richards, their wives Cheri and Angela, and four wonderful grandchildren, Jordan W. Richards, Caleb S. Richards, Amelia A. Richards and Sebastian E. Richards. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life. She was close to her cousins, Lynn Goodwin, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jane Goodwin, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Joanne Randall of Mechanicsville, VA.; Joan Pruner of Shawnee; Robert Noyes of Dallas, Texas; Carolyn Worswick of Dallas, Texas; Roger Dabney of Edmond, Oklahoma; Robin Zeka of Joplin, Missouri; Laurel Baggett of Oklahoma City; and Harry Ellis of Honolulu, Hawaii. Her formative years were family oriented, and these cousins were an integral part of her life.Many thanks from Mary Jane and her family to Loving Care Hospice, Primrose Retirement Community, Janell Stanberry, Debbie Marez, Lela Rutledge, Dr. Dubois, Dr. McArthur, Dr. Holter and several important friends whose support and encouragement were a blessing.Mary Jane was most thankful for her glorious Lord and Father in heaven and most thankful for being his child.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.Honorary Pall Bearers: Wilson Baptist, Norvell Clarke, Jack Coffey, C.L. Craig, Bill Deupree, Bill Ford, Lynn Goodwin, Don Keeton and Griff Lindell.
