Laura Lillian Lawson, 93, a lifelong resident of the Meeker area passed away Saturday January 14, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Talmadge “Tally” F. Lawson who passed away June 13, 2013. Lillian as she was known to her friends and family was born on August 15, 1923 to the late Samuel and Minnie Faye Guinn in Meeker, Oklahoma. She grew up on a small family farm and attended Meeker Schools along with her six siblings. During the war she worked at Douglas Aircraft with her good friend Jewel who introduced her to her younger brother Tally. Lillian and Tally were quickly inseparable and married in 1946. Together they owned and operated a family farm in the Meeker area for many years. Along with her work on the farm she also spent several years as a cosmetologist and later became a successful real estate agent. She retired in June 1999 at the age of 75 after spending 21 years in the industry. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, and an excellent cook. She loved having her extended family around and always enjoyed cooking for everyone. A deeply spiritual woman she was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Meeker and involved in many church activities including Sunday School and assisting in the kitchen. Lillian is survived by her son, Talmadge “Eugene” Lawson also of Meeker. Her grandchildren, E’Shaina Lawson Harned and Clint Lawson and wife Tabitha. Her great-grandchildren, Ashley Dawn Rhodes, Clinton Kaine Lawson, Hallie Anne Harned, and Isabela Lillian Lawson. Her great-great grandchildren, Christian Rhodes and Scarlet Roberds. She is also survived by her brother Roy Lee Guinn and sister JoAnn Perkins Dungan. In addition to her husband Tally, she was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Minnie Faye Guinn, her brothers Edward Burlin Guinn, C.P. “Hap” Guinn, and Wayne Guinn, her sister Alba Mae Guinn Ward. We welcome friends to join the family from 6:00-7:30 P.M. on Friday, January 20 at Walker Funeral Service, 201 E. 45th Street, Shawnee, OK 74804. A Christian service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday January 21 at The First Christian Church, 504 Loy Street, Meeker, OK 74855 with Reverend Jim Whorton officiating, followed by interment at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
