J.L. Freeman, lifelong resident of Shawnee passed from this world on February 9, 2017 in Midwest City. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Dale Cemetery with Larry Townsend officiating. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. He was born May 5, 1943 in Huntington Park, California to Woody and Onita Freeman. On April 13, 1960 he married the love of his life, Ann (Miller) in Ada, Oklahoma. Having a secret wedding they moved to Ontario, California, where he already had a job on the pipeline, and they returned to Shawnee, Oklahoma after a couple of years. He worked all over the United States including Alaska, Canada, and Trinidad/Tobago but always returned to Oklahoma and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Onita (Kelley) Freeman and Brothers Charles and Leon Freeman. He is survived by his Wife: Ann (Miller) Freeman of the home; 3 Children: Tracy Freeman-Sherlock of Tecumseh, Monty and Roxanne Freeman of Bethel Acres, and Becky Freeman-Click of Shawnee. He was blessed with 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, and a big nosed brother in law, Terry Miller and wife Sharon of Houston, TX, sister in laws Beverly Miller of Tahlequah, OK, and Audrey Freeman of Shawnee, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was a proud member of local pipeliners union 798 for 60 years, where he was a journeyman. He received his union book in 1959 and after his 2nd heart attack forced to retire in 2003. After retiring he spent his time working in his shop and on his tractor or going to grand and great grandchildrens events. If you needed help, he was there, had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back if you needed it.
