Rosemary Dawson

July 2, 1929 — February 19, 2017

Rosemary Dawson of Shawnee, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 19, 2017 at the age of 87.  She was born July 2, 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Clyde and Irene Giles.  She grew up in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1947.  While in high school, she met her husband, Jack.  Jack and Rosemary (Giles) were married on October 21, 1950 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage.  During that time they were devoted to each other and their family.  She enjoyed supporting and following her two sons, Chris and Scott, as well as seeing her precious grandchildren.  Rosie worked at the Shawnee News Star for over 30 years in the circulation department and enjoyed the many lifelong friends she made there.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde & Irene Giles; a sister, Norma Deane Lavoie; her grandson, Ryan Dawson; and her daughter-in-law, Neoma Dawson. She is survived by her husband Jack of the home; sons, Chris of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Scott and wife Cathy of Shawnee, Oklahoma; sister Ramah Rutherford and husband Warren of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren Facundo and Alyssa Dawson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Kenzi Lopez of Norman, Oklahoma; nephews and niece, Rod Rutherford, Roger Rutherford and Laura Lavoie Shore; as well as their wonderful families.  In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law Laverne Dawson of Wanette, and two great nieces Alyssa Dawson Thompson and Jennifer Dawson McClure.  Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25th at Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
