Norma Jo Henley

September 10, 1926 — March 10, 2017

Norma Jo Henley passed into the loving arms of her Savior Friday, March 10, 2017.   The family will be at Walker Funeral Service from 5pm to 7pm Monday to receive friends.  Services will be 10:00am Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel.    Norma was born September 10, 1926 in Byars, Oklahoma to Frank and Mildred (Cowger) Bratcher.  She attended school in Byars and graduated from Shawnee High School.  She attended Holmes Bible College where she was called into the ministry. She preached revivals in Oklahoma and Arkansas.   In 1958 she married C.J. White and together they raised children Dewayne, Gary, and Tami. They were married 24 years.  After his death Norma was a volunteer at Heartland Hospice for years.  After completing a BS Degree at OBU, Norma taught lower elementary school for 27 years. She taught at Pleasant Grove, Wilson Elementary, and Liberty Academy.  She was active in Sigma Mother’s Club and Delta Cappa Gamma.  Teaching was a labor of love for Norma and one of her greatest thrills was seeing former students she had taught throughout the years.   She married Leo Henley in 1984. They had a musical ministry singing in services and gospel singings as often as possible. They sang with friends Don and Corky Petree, Norma’s best friend since childhood Jereda Kizzia and husband Jack plus many other dear friends.   Church and church activities were always dear to Norma’s heart. She taught Sunday school, led women’s ministries, and served as assistant Pastor.  She served as President of the Shawnee Chapter of Women’s Aglow for 6 years. She was an ordained minister with New Horizon’s Conference of the International Penticostal Holiness Church, celebrating 30 years of service in 2016.   Norma was preceded in death by parents Frank and Mildred Bratcher, Husbands C.J. White and Leo Henley. Sons Gary White, Dewayne White and Ted Bratcher. Grandsons Luke Welch and Randy White.   She is survived by daughter Tami Fleeman, grandson Scott Fleeman and wife Brittany and their daughters Shelby, Sadie, and Scarlett.    Daughter-in-law Lu White. Step-son Dan Henley and wife Kay. Grandchildren Michael White, Angi White, Kellee Sehuame and Kris Gober, Joey, John, Paula, and Derrick Bratcher, and over 20 great-great-grandchildren.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Scott Stewart for his loving care, and Rose Manor Nursing Center and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care.
