A. Leo Burns

Leo Burns, 89, of Shawnee, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his residence.Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with John Hooper officiating. Leo was born February 23, 1929 in Springer, OK to Oscar & Christine (Spencer) Burns.He served our country in the US Navy from 1948-1952. He also served as a Shawnee Police Officer for a few years. Leo worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base for 8 years before retiring from MKT/Union Pacific Railroad as a Steel Bridge Foreman in 1996. After retirement, served the Pottawatomie County Court House as Bailiff for a short time.He married Florence Johnston on November 5, 1952. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee.He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Christine Burns, 1 brother and 1 sister.Leo is survived by his wife, Florence, their daughter, Cecil Dunlap and her husband Jerry, 4 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
