Afalo Buster Bray, Jr. was born on February 17, 1937 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Afalo Sr and Viola Bray. Afalo departed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Afalo graduated from Dunbar High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he played on the football team. He and his brother Willie Lee joined the U.S. Marines in 1957 for a brief period of service. In 1969 he began a career with OG&E where he enjoyed 27 years of service until his retirement.
Afalo married Dora Betty in 1957. To this union, four children were born: Kathleen Debbie , Curtis, Jeannetta & Aaron Bray. He later married Mae Homesley. Afalo loved music and played the organ and piano. Afalo was a member of Union Baptist Church for several years and St. John Baptist Church, Brooksville and served as the organist for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters – Joyce Broadus and Alice Leatherman; brother – Willie Lee; granddaughter – Stephanie.
Afalo is survived by two sons – Curtis (Jenean) and Aaron, Arlington, TX; two daughters – Kathleen Debbie and Jeannetta, Shawnee, OK; one sister – Gloria York; twelve grandchildren – Lamont (Ashley) Bray, Sadie Bray, Paul (ShayLyn) Townes, Damita Hill, Charles Townes Jr, Curtis Bray Jr, Dana Bray, Stephen (Ashley) Bray, Eric Bray, Brianna Bray, Ashley Bray and Joshua Bray; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 in the chapel of Walker Funeral Service.
