Amanda was born on April 29, 1977, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City to Donald and Judy (Wright) Kilby. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School and attended OBU, graduated from St. Gregory’s University In Shawnee, and received her MBA in Accounting from Asher Global University. She worked at Gateway in Shawnee, first as a volunteer and eventually as CFO, following which she was in the accounting field for the State of Oklahoma.
Amanda (Mandy to family), lived a lot of life in her abbreviated time on earth. She was an excellent student and always loved to learn.
She graduated from St. Gregory’s in Shawnee two months after her younger son, Dalton, was born, with a toddler by the hand and a baby hugged tightly to her bosom. When she couldn’t think of a lullaby, she sang the A-B-C’s to them. She took both to Kindermusik at OBU. When they were in Pre-K and elementary school, she volunteered in their classrooms and was a “Popcorn Fridays Mom” for years. She spent many hours sitting by their sides as they practiced piano. She didn’t give up easily when Dalton wanted to quit and refused to practice. He finally won, but it wasn’t for lack of effort on her part. Later, when Beecher played football at SHS, she was the loudest mom in the stands (her best cheerleader voice). There were a few times when she wanted to give the coaches some unsolicited advice, but Ryan and Dad were able to hold her down.
Amanda was a whirlwind. Not only did she fully support her boys’ activities, as a soccer coach when they were young, pop-corn mom, classroom assistant, and concession stand volunteer, she volunteered in the community as a member of the Junior Service League and represented Gateway in the community. She seldom asked for help, but she always offered a helping hand for anyone who needed her.
She readily volunteered her husband(s) when something involved more time or money than she could manage on her own, often without their permission. Although divorced, Mandy continued to be supportive of her ex-husband, Stephen Sanders, helping with his audits, preparing his personal and business taxes, and even spending many long nights with him in the hospital when he had a serious illness. Despite assurances from Don and Judy that they were capable of managing their own affairs, she was right there, keeping up with their goings-on. She volunteered Ryan for a lot of heavy-lifting, and he was bestowed the unpaid position of “Family Expert on Anything Mechanical or Technical”.
Amanda met her husband, Ryan, when she decided that someone 110 pounds soaking wet should be able to hold up a 600-pound Harley. He was the instructor, and he thought she needed some extra tutoring. They married on November 11, 2011. She loved those Harley clothes. She loved traveling. She took trips to Washington, DC, San Diego CA, and more to attend work-related conferences. They took a family cruise to the Caribbean. They went as a family with Ryan on a business trip to England. She insisted that they had to see Paris since they were so close, so they did. They enjoyed vacations in Mexico. Her dream trip was realized when the whole gang went on a cruise of the Greek Isles and she got to see the ruins. And then there was the occasional trip to Buc-ee’s in Dallas and many, many T-shirts from the same.
She loved God, family, friends, riding her motorcycle, working, shopping, coloring in coloring books, making simple crafts, cross-stitch, Sudoku, and Facebook, to name a few.
God got a new angel on December 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her Nanny and PaPa Kilby; Grandma and Grandpa Wright; aunt, Linda Larson; and cousin, Mark Larson.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Boyer; parents, Don and Judy Kilby of Shawnee; sons, Beecher Sanders and Dalton Sanders, both of Shawnee; stepsons, Ross Boyer, Folsom, CA, and Jarrid Boyer, also of California, and two precious step-grandbabies, Myla and Mitchell; brother, Matthew Kilby and wife Christy of McLoud; two nieces, Aerin Jaroszewicz and Victoria Kilby; aunt, Phyllis Norwood; uncle, Roger Kilby; uncle, Bill Larson; and multiple other family members, including several generations of cousins and plenty of “shirt-tail kin”.
We were so blessed to have her in our lives and share her with friends and family. God is good – always – even in times of sorrow.
