Barbara "Ma" Goodnight

Barbara Ann Goodnight, resident of Shawnee, was Promoted to Glory on January 21, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Barbara was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on August 17, 1941, to Cecil and Mary Truby. She graduated from Shawnee High School and married William (Bill) Arthur Goodnight on August 18, 1959.

Ma worked at River Rest Turkey Farm for 10 years. Later, she worked many years at Hardesty Grocery in Shawnee. At the age of 50, Ma went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse where she cared for many people for 20 years in home health. She was a member of Open Door Church of God and loved her church family dearly.

Ma never met a person she didn't like or that she didn't care for. She always made room in her home for anyone in need. Ma and Pa raised their family in the Bethel Acres community where they loved watching their children play sports and other school activities. Ma was feisty, disciplined, and full of love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Goodnight, parents Glenn and Marguerite Truby, and sister, Donna Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Bilynda Luschen and husband Dan, son, Bill Goodnight and wife Angela, and son, Bryan Goodnight and wife Peggy; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm with family present to greet friends from 4-6 pm. A funeral ceremony to honor Ma will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:00 am at Open Door Church of God in Shawnee with David Shaw officiating. Following the ceremony, Ma will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hopewell Cemetery.

We weep and mourn for our loss, but she is in the glorious arms of God. Ma said, "Don't feel sorry for me." She knew her Savior and is now with Him.

Pallbearers will be: BJ Goodnight, Randy Goodnight, Trae Luschen, Billy Goodnight, Dwayne Goodnight, and Mike Goodnight.
