Bartona Manning

Bartona "Toni" Manning, of Shawnee, OK went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the age of 86 years and 8 months. Her husband and both daughters were at her side.

Bartona was born on Saturday, December 29, 1934 in Quinton, OK to Lee Freeman Morris and Grace Elizabeth Morris. After graduating from Quinton High School in 1953, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Billy Denton Manning on July 11, 1953 in Stigler, OK. Bartona was a military wife for over 26 years. She lived in Biloxi, MS; Wichita Falls, TX; Denison, TX; Athens Greece; Fayetteville, NC; Wichita, KS; Iraklion Crete Greece; San Antonio, TX; and then finally Shawnee, OK. She also saw most major cities in Europe. The life of the military wife was not easy. But, she endured with pride and joy. No one kept a cleaner house or was a better cook than Bartona. Her motto was "I can pick 'em up and set 'em, down" even at her age. She was always busy keeping house and taking care of her family, who she loved dearly. There was not a lazy bone in her body. She and Billy were baptized together on the first of February, 1960 at Oaklawn Baptist in Wichita, KS. In Shawnee, Toni and Billy have been faithful members of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bobby Joe Morris.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Billy, daughters: Kathy Hartman and husband Mark, Linda Flanagan; grandchildren: Matthew Hartman and wife Shara, Jonathan Harman, and Julie Flanagan as well as eight great grandchildren and several nephews.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects to Toni at the funeral home from 8am-6pm on Wednesday, September 1. A funeral ceremony to gratefully remember her life will be held at 10am Thursday, September 2, in the Chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service with Mark Hartman officiating. Following the ceremony, Toni will be laid to rest next to her parents at the Quinton Cemetery in Quinton, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service, Shawnee, OK.
