Betty Jeanne Brown Pitt Russell, 95 of Shawnee, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 14th with her family by her side.
Betty was an active member of Grace Bible and then New Beginnings until health prevented her active attendance. During her life she worked for Shawnee Loan and Finance and later became manager of Credit Thrift of America, retiring in 1987. She loved spending time with her family, her garden where she could make everything bloom, and doing beautiful handwork. Betty was born in Noble, Oklahoma to Una Coker Brown and Lester Benny Brown who preceded her in death, along with a brother Bill Speak and sisters Amy Miller and June Ventura.
She is survived by daughters: Betty Robertson and husband Jim, and Pat Rosenbaum, son: Bill & wife Jane Pitt, grandchildren: Randy & Leesa Rosenbaum, Brad and Angie Pitt, Doug and Lisa Pitt, Jim and Melanie Robertson, Trevor and Holly Robertson, Julie and Rob Neal, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and sisters: Mary Ann and Herbert Wickline; Kathy and Ed Gansz.
The family is grateful to the caring staff of Rose Manor, her personal physician Dr. Kelli Koons and Brandi Parsons for the amazing love and care she received for many years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mission Shawnee, 126 North Center, because Betty’s main concern was that children were being fed.
