Betty Jean Burke

Betty Jean Anderson Burke, 93, of Norman OK, passed away Thursday, August 5, at her home. Betty was born September 23, 1927 in Shawnee, OK to Jubal and Myrtle Anderson. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1945. She married Lloyd Rex Burke on November 17, 1945 upon his return from World War II in the Pacific. Betty worked for Western Union and Sylvania and then turned her attention to raising her family of five children.

Betty spread the world with her love for 93 years. She was a kind soul with a special heart, who was always thinking of others. She was generous with her charity giving to various causes. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Betty had many friends and people who loved her. She treasured time with family, enjoyed bible study, and loved shopping and eating out with family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd. She is survived by her son, Steve Burke of Tecumseh and daughter-in-law, Nita Burke, son, Mike Burke of Oklahoma City, daughter, Sheryll Brown of Norman and son-in-law, Jeffrey Brown, son, Tim Burke of Mansfield, TX and daughter-in-law, Roseann Burke, daughter, Becky Casado of Eugene, OR and son-in-law Marty Casado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and grand-dog, Buster.

A viewing will be held from 8-10 am at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Following the viewing, a funeral ceremony will be held at the Walker Funeral Chapel at 10 am. Betty will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Flowers are welcome but memorial donations can be made to No Kid Hungry or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service.
