Billie Francis Horton, loving wife, mother and grandmother left this world Sunday, September 4, 2022, in Shawnee, OK. Billie was born Billie Francis Tabor in Dodson, TX on February 1, 1930, to Raymond and Veona Tabor, one of two children. Billie grew up and attended the Church of Christ in Dodson. Billie graduated high school in 1948. While working in a local drug store, Billie met the love of her life, William F. Horton. They married in November 1948 and moved to Borger, Texas where they lived for 18 years. In 1966, Billie and William and young daughter, Lecia moved to Shawnee, OK making it their forever home. During the first two years in Shawnee, Billie owned and operated L.H. Donut Shop until her young family needed her at home. She later went to work for C.R. Anthony's for five years. In 1980, Billie went to work at Project Heart, a nutrition program for the elderly. After that, she worked for home health and meals on wheels until she could no longer drive. Billie met a lot of people everywhere she worked and loved every job she ever had. Everyone knew Billie, but for the last 39 years, she was known as Nan or Nana, named by her granddaughter, Kelley. Kelley and Nan and friends spent a lot of time at the Elks pool every summer. Billie was a life-long member of the Church of Christ from Dodson, TX to Borger, TX and lately Central Church of Christ in Shawnee, OK. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Sammy Tabor, her loving husband of 67 years, William Franklin Horton, and grandson, Darrell R. Jones. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Willecia Rae Jones and husband, Dennis, granddaughter, Kelley Rae Willis and husband, Ernest, grandson, Dennis D. Jones, Jr. and wife, Kim of Shawnee, OK, nephew, Robert Wesley Tabor and wife, Julie of Borger, TX, and many other relatives and friends. A memorial ceremony for Billie will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Walker Funeral Chapel. Officiants will be Paul Harris of Central Church of Christ and Ed Bonneau of Dallas, TX. The family would like to thank everyone involved with Billie's care for the past 2 ½ years at Belfair Memory Care. We would also like to thank Inhabit Hospice for making her life more comfortable these past few weeks. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawnee, OK.
