Bonnie B. Jack-Wright, age 91, of Shawnee died Monday, January 8, 2018 in Shawnee. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m., January 13, 2018 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. with Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.Bonnie was born to Loy E. and Tela (Brassfield) Garrett on March 7, 1926 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She married Herman Joshua Jack on July 5, 1946. He died May 20, 2005. She later married Charles Edward Wright on November 25, 2006, he died November 16, 2010. She was a retired Shawnee Public School music teacher for 33 years. A member of New Beginnings Church; A member of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Assoc.; Past President of the Pottawatomie County retired Educators; member and officer of Wunagisa Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution; Life member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Honorary Music Fraternity for women; member and past President of Kappa Kappa Iota ( Pi Conclave) Teachers Sorority; past President of Shawnee OES Past Matrons Club; Life member of Murrow Chapter OES having served as organist; Organist for Tecumseh #30 OES; State pianist 2 years for Oklahoma Daughters of the American Revolution; Oklahoma OES Grand Organist in 1981; Past President of Oklahoma Past Grand Officers Club of OES; Presented a Citation for 33 years of dedication & service as an Oklahoma Teacher by the Oklahoma State Senate in 1981. Served as pianist and organist for Calvary Baptist Church for 10 years. Past secretary of National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees Shawnee Chapter # 542. Played piano for the U.S. troops during WWII at the USO in Shawnee. Warren Angell, former dean of College Fine Arts at OBU, wanted Bonnie to become a concert pianist or teach at OBU, but she declined saying she wanted to teach elementary music. She was fond of children. One of the proudest moments for her was when her husband Herman presented the colors to the Navy at ceremony’s at the USS Arizona Memorial, during their service with the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Easter Star.She and Herman enjoyed their world-wide Music History travels. Her favorite was visiting the church in Oberndorf, Austria where Gruber composed Silent Night.She is preceded in death by; Parents, Husbands: Herman Jack and Charles Wright, brother: Jerry Ray Garrett, Aunt: Eunice Headley and Uncle: Winfred Brassfield.Survived by: Son: Michael Steven and wife, Debbie (Kahanek) Jack of Shawnee, Grandsons: Brandon Joshua Jack of Shawnee Stuart William Jack of Norman, Oklahoma Granddaughter: Lindsey Ann Jack of Seattle, Washington Nephew: Gregory Ray Garrett of Oklahoma City Step-Daughter: Patricia Wright of Ada, Okla.
