Carl Allen Coffman

Our beloved dad, Carl Coffman, entered heavens gates on August 21, 2024 at the age of 83 after an extended illness.

Carl was blessed with current wife, Darla, for the past 14 years, along with her family. They relocated from Bethel to Shawnee. They had some fun adventures traveling and were active at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Carl was born to B.B. and Jewel Coffman on March 16, 1941 in Duncan, Oklahoma. After graduating from Chickasha High School in 1959 and Oklahoma Baptist University in 1964, Carl had a long career in civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. While at OBU, Carl met Lois Trenton, and they married on June 28, 1963 at Bethel Hawley Baptist Church. They returned to the Shawnee area and settled on an acreage in Bethel Acres.

Carl & Lois went on to have two children, Chris Coffman and Carla Smith. Carl was active in church, often serving as supply music director and choir member, on many building and grounds committees, and as a deacon. Dad and Mom always talked about their trip to Kansas City to watch OBU men’s basketball win a national title (1966) and remained lifelong OBU fans.

Carl joins his first wife Lois (2009), both parents, 3 nieces, and many friends and extended family who have already passed on to heaven. Carl is survived by current wife Darla, son Chris and his wife Vanessa, daughter Carla, two grandsons Zackary and Alicia Smith, Levi Smith, one granddaughter Cassie and Justin Sawatsky, two great-grandsons, Weston Smith and Jacob Sawatzky. Darla’s family includes Diana (Tony) Weins and Charles (Wendy) Young. Carl is also survived by three sisters and three brothers, and many nieces and nephews. Siblings are Dale Coffman, Mary Kennedy, Kenny (Sandra) Coffman, Rita Dombrosky, Tony Coffman, and Laurie (Frank) Dombrosky.

Carl enjoyed woodworking, gospel music, travel, and his 1929 Ford Model A. All of these interests were combined for some fun adventures, trips, and even Model A Club parades. Faith and family were always a priority. He had a serious side, but also a sense of humor we cherish.

A special thank you to the Valir Hospice care team for walking our family through this journey, as well as all of those who surround us with prayers and support.

Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Shawnee, OK on Saturday, August 24th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery, Tecumseh, OK.
