Charles Fredrick “Charlie” Howell of Meeker, OK former resident of Oklahoma City was born September 7, 1937 in Meeker OK and departed this life Saturday October 21, 2017 in Midwest City at the age of 80 years after a short battle with cancer. Charlie was the son of Elsie “Pearl” and Winfield Barnes “Doc” Howell. He was preceded in death by one sister Janice Marie Brixey. Charlie grew up in Oklahoma City graduated from Capitol Hill high school in 1956. In May of 1957 he married his soul mate Annette Nelson. They were blessed with sixty year of marriage and four beautiful children. Rebekah “Becky”, Marilyn Mark & John. After working in the family business of Doc’s IGA he began his working career at Doffler heavy equipment and then in 1962 he went to work for Oklahoma Gas and Electric. Charlie spent thirty-two years in the transportation department of OGE working various positions, training drivers for the basket trucks and finishing his career in the downtown transportation garage. After retirement he moved back to his birth place and beloved family farm. He spent time fishing and raising cattle and pampering his beloved longhorn cow Whitie. His parents and sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife Annette Howell of Meeker, his children, Becky and Neal Norman of Oklahoma City, Marilyn and Roy Murphy of Nicoma Park, Mark and Jeannine Howell of Mc Loud, John and Eileen Howell of Meeker. His Grand Children: Jeremy Norman, Oklahoma City, Meleah and Carl Witten, Oklahoma City, Stephanie & John Sousa, Oklahoma City, Pam & Jason Laurence, Midwest City, Heather & Steven Vaughn, Washington, OK, Montana Howell, Mc Loud, OK, Lacy & Jennifer Howell, Prague, OK and Sarah Howell, Prague, OK. Step grandchildren Paul Murphy, Nicoma Park, Stephanie Murphy, Oklahoma City, Shawna and Kevin Cale, Edmond, OK, Heather and Cody Moery and John and Megan Boggs. Great grandchildren, Tanner Callahan, Blayden Sousa, Cameron and McKenzy Laurence, Brylee Mc Laughlin ,Raegan Vaughn, Hudson and Miles Witten, Erik Howell. Step great grandchildren Breana and Dalton Murphy, Ryan, Emily & Bryce Cale, Grady Moery and Mikaela Boggs and many other relatives and friends.Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Walker Funeral Chapel, with burial following in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.The family will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. to visit with friends and family.
